What is aquamarine?
The blue variety of the mineral beryl, coloured by iron. With a Mohs hardness of 7.5 to 8, it is fine for everyday wear. It is related to emerald (green) and morganite (pink): the same mineral, different trace elements.
Why aquamarine in rose gold rather than white gold?
White gold intensifies the blue, rose gold sets a warm counterpoint. That makes the stone look clearer, because the eye reads contrast more strongly than intensification.
