This 18kt white gold ring held two multicolour Ming cultured pearls, in size 54. Ming pearls are grown around a round nucleus and, over their long cultivation, build up an unusually thick layer of nacre. That is why their lustre looks deep rather than glassy on the surface. Two pearls side by side instead of one give the ring an asymmetric axis that drapes across the finger instead of perching on top. Made in Munich, sold for €995.
Pearls and gold, a bond for eternity.

Frequently asked questions
Can a comparable ring be made?
Yes. The design and setting can be taken up again, in a different ring size and gold colour too. The pearls would be different ones, and I agree their colour play and size with you beforehand.
What are Ming pearls?
Cultured pearls that grow around a round nucleus. The combination of nucleus and long cultivation produces a thick layer of nacre, far thicker than in Akoya pearls, where the nacre often measures only tenths of a millimetre. That makes them more robust and gives their lustre more depth.
Are the colours natural?
Yes. The shimmer of rose, green and bronze comes from the nacre itself. Dyed pearls usually give themselves away through an evenly saturated colour with no transitions and traces of dye at the drill hole.
How do I care for a pearl ring?
Nacre has a Mohs hardness of 2.5 to 4.5, which makes it much softer than any gemstone. No ultrasonic bath, no cleaning agents, and take the ring off when you wash your hands.
