This 18kt white gold ring held an aquamarine flanked by 16 brilliant-cut diamonds totalling 0.22 ct in TW/vsi-si. Aquamarine is the blue variety of beryl, the same mineral family as emerald and morganite, and its blue comes from iron. White gold reinforces that tone instead of contrasting with it the way rose gold would, and makes the stone look cooler and clearer. Made in Munich, sold for €2,200.
White gold, blue aquamarine, clear as a summer's day.

Frequently asked questions
Can a comparable ring be made?
Yes. The setting and design can be taken up again. The aquamarine would be a different stone, and I agree its depth of colour and size with you before I buy it.
What does TW/vsi-si mean?
TW stands for Top Wesselton, one of the upper colour grades for white diamonds. VSI and SI describe clarity: inclusions that can be seen under tenfold magnification, but not with the naked eye.
What is aquamarine?
The blue variety of the mineral beryl, coloured by iron. With a Mohs hardness of 7.5 to 8 it is well suited to everyday wear. It is related to emerald (green) and morganite (pink): the same mineral, different trace elements.
