This 18kt rose gold ring holds a 0.20 ct brilliant-cut diamond at its centre, encircled by 20 brilliant-cut diamonds totalling 0.13 ct in colour G, in size 54. The circle of small stones is called an entourage. It makes the centre stone look considerably larger, so a 0.20 carat diamond reads like a much heavier solitaire. Rose gold is the unusual choice here: its copper content lays a warm tone beneath the white stones instead of reflecting them coolly. Handmade in Munich. €1,900.

What is an entourage?
A closed circle of small stones around the centre stone, better known in English as a halo. It makes the set surface look larger without you having to pay for a correspondingly large single stone. The price difference between 0.20 and 0.50 carats is considerable; with this construction, the visual difference is small.
Do white diamonds suit rose gold?
Yes, and the effect is deliberate. Rose gold contains more copper than yellow gold and casts a warm tone into the setting. White stones look softer against it rather than colder, a different character from the same design in white gold.
Does it work as an engagement ring?
