This 18kt white gold ring is set with 51 diamonds totalling 0.10 ct, colour G and clarity SI, in size 54. Spread across 51 stones, each weighs around 0.002 ct and measures about seven tenths of a millimetre. At that size the individual reflections merge into one continuous surface of light instead of flashing one by one. All the effort lies in the setting: 51 seats, each milled under the microscope. Handmade in Munich. €750.

Frequently asked questions
What does pavé mean?
It is French for paving. Many small stones sit so close together that the metal beneath them is barely visible. The result is a continuous glitter instead of individual points of light.
Do such small stones fall out easily?
Not when the work is done properly. Each stone sits in its own milled recess and is held by several tiny beads, raised from the metal with a graver. What matters is regular inspection: bring the ring in every few years and I will check that every stone sits firmly.
Why does a ring with 0.10 ct cost €750?
Because the carat weight is the smaller part of it. Most of the price is the solid 18kt gold and the hours at the setting bench. A single 0.10 ct stone would be set in minutes; 51 would not.
