The Georgia Ring in 18kt rose gold held a morganite in a serti dressé setting: the stone stands upright on its edge instead of lying flat, held at just two points. Light passes through it from behind, and with a translucent stone like morganite, that is the whole point. Rose gold contains more copper and lays a warm tone beneath the stone, where white gold keeps it cool and clear. A one-of-a-kind piece in size 54, made in Munich, sold for €6,900.
A ring that carries history, and tells it anew.

Frequently asked questions
Can you make a comparable ring?
Yes. The construction and the setting can be recreated, in a different ring size too. What cannot be repeated is the stone: every morganite differs in colour and clarity. Price and timing depend on what I find on the market.
What is a serti dressé setting?
A setting in which the stone stands upright on its edge instead of lying flat. It is held at just two opposite points and stays open on both sides. Light passes through it instead of only bouncing off the surface, which is why the technique suits translucent stones so well.
What is morganite?
The pink variety of the mineral beryl, coloured by manganese and named in 1911 after the collector J. P. Morgan. With a Mohs hardness of 7.5 to 8, it is suitable for everyday wear. It belongs to the same mineral family as emerald and aquamarine: different trace elements, different colour.
