This 18kt white gold ring carries a blue zircon accompanied by brilliant-cut diamonds, in size 54. A word on the names, because they get mixed up: zircon is a natural mineral, zirconium silicate. Cubic zirconia is a synthetic diamond imitation and has nothing to do with it. Zircon refracts light so strongly that it comes closer to the fire of a diamond than almost any other natural stone. Blue is the most sought-after colour in zircon. Handmade in Munich. €4,900, a one-of-a-kind piece.
Blue zircon, sparkling like water in sunlight.

Frequently asked questions
Is zircon the same as cubic zirconia?
No. Zircon is a naturally grown mineral and one of the oldest materials in the earth's crust: the oldest dated zircon crystals are more than four billion years old. Cubic zirconia is synthetic zirconium dioxide and serves as a diamond substitute. Two different materials with unfortunately similar names.
Where does the blue colour come from?
In the trade, almost always from heating brownish rough, a stable process that has been common for centuries. Naturally blue zircon is extremely rare. With zircon, this treatment is standard and is openly declared.
How do I care for the ring?
Zircon has a Mohs hardness of 6 to 7.5 but is more brittle than sapphire, and the facet edges can chip if knocked. Store it separately from harder stones, keep it out of ultrasonic cleaners and take it off for rough work.
We also carry a ring with green zircon, the same mineral in a considerably rarer colour.
